Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 19 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Samir Chakraborty passed away at the age of 72 in the early hours of Thursday in a private hospital in Agartala.
The Tripura State Committee of the All India Kisan Sabha joined in mourning the loss of this leader and expressed profound grief at his demise.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Pabitra Kar, Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha, Tripura State Committee, mourned the loss of Chakraborty.
"We have lost a long-time companion in our struggle. From our experiences working together in the organization, from the student movement to becoming a full-time party worker, I can say that such a fearless soldier is rare to find. His departure is a significant loss to the communist movement," said Kar.
Kar recounted Chakraborty's resilience during the Congress-Youth Committee alliance period when he faced numerous life-threatening attacks.
He highlighted Chakraborty's electoral success in the 1994 municipal elections, where he was elected as a councilor, marking the first time he contested an election. At that time, Chakraborty served as the Secretary of the Party's Sadar Division, a position he held until 2005.
Chakraborty also made significant contributions as the state president of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) from 1981 to 1989. His leadership in the Sadar Division from 1994 to 2005 was marked by remarkable skill and dedication.
Pabitra Kar described Chakraborty as a grassroots leader who managed numerous challenges with extraordinary expertise.
"His passing is a tremendous loss to the communist movement and to the people he served. We extend our deepest condolences to his family," he added. (ANI)
