COVID-19: No decision on lockdown for Saturdays in Bengaluru

Bengaluru (Karnataka), July 9 (ANI): Even as the Karnataka Government decided to impose complete lockdown on every Sunday till August, it has not yet been decided whether the same will be implemented on every Saturday.

Bengaluru (Karnataka), July 9 (ANI): Even as the Karnataka Government decided to impose complete lockdown on every Sunday till August, it has not yet been decided whether the same will be implemented on every Saturday.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Karnataka cabinet Minister R Ashok, who is also COVID -19 Management in-charge in Bengaluru, said, "The cabinet has not yet decided on whether the lockdown will also be implemented on Saturday or not."
"Currently, the situation is very fluid. Decisions will be taken depending on developments at the ground level. We will discuss the situation when it comes," he added.
With a spike in a number of COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru, the state government had decided to implement lockdown in the city every Sunday till August 2. However, grocery shops, mutton shops, medicine shops, fruits and vegetable shops were allowed to remain open in stipulated time to avoid any inconvenience for the public.
Karnataka has reported 28,877 coronavirus cases, of which 11,876 have been recoveries. (ANI)
