Court grants 11 more days to Delhi Police to complete probe against 2 accused

The Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday has extended time for 11 days to complete the investigation against 2 accused namely Sahil alias Poli and Vijay Gahlaut alias Kalu in a case under MCOCA.

New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): The Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday extended the time for 11 days to complete the investigation against two accused, namely Sahil alias Poli and Vijay Gahlaut alias Kalu, in a case under the MCOCA. They are co-accused in a case linked to an organised crime syndicate allegedly run by Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu.
Special Judge Jitendra Singh extended the period of investigation until May 5 after hearing the prosecution's submissions. Investigation officer ACP Naresh and Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) appeared before the court and sought an extension of 30 days.
The 90-day period to complete the investigation is expiring today. Police have sought an extension of time.
It was suggested that some accused individuals should be confronted with other accused individuals. Some financial documents and property documents are to be collected.
After reviewing the application, the court stated that there is no justifiable ground for extending the time for the investigation. After some submissions Investigation Officer submitted that he required at least 10 days to complete the investigation.
Meanwhile, the court has extended judicial custody of EX MLA Naresh Balyan and other accused till the next date.
The Delhi police had moved an application seeking a 30-day investigation period to complete the investigation against the accused, Sahil alias Poli, and Vijay Gahlaut.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja had issued a notice to the accused persons.
Advocate Rohit Kumar Dalal appeared on behalf of the accused persons via video conferencing.
Duty judge Jitendra Singh extended the judicial remand of Naresh Balyan, Ritik alias Peter, Rohit alias Anna, Sachin Chikara, Sahil alias Poli, Vijay alias Kalu and Jyoti Prakash alias Baba. All the accused were produced through video conferencing from jails.
On April 4, Delhi police recorded the statement of Jyoti Prakash alias Baba under MCOCA during police custody. He is the real brother of gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu.
On March 1, the Court had granted 60 more days to the Delhi police to complete the investigation against Naresh Balyan.
Balyan was arrested on December 4, 2024 in this case. The extension period is expiring on May 4, SPP had stated.
The Court has already taken cognisance of the charge sheet filed against the accused Ritik alias Peter. A supplementary charge sheet has also been filed against Rohit alias Anna and Sachin Chikara. Cognisance of the same has also been taken by the court. (ANI)
