Council of Ministers meeting: PM Modi's governance mantra, "Ham Nagrik Ke Sevak Hai"

The second meeting of the Council of Ministers of the NDA 3.0 government chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held on Wednesday.

New Delhi [India], October 10 (ANI): The second meeting of the Council of Ministers of the NDA 3.0 government chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held on Wednesday.
During the meeting, PM Modi proposed a new slogan, "Hum nagrik ke sevak hai" (We are servants of the citizens) and asked the ministers to direct their focus completely on people's problems, sources said.
"We have come to serve them and we have to serve the people and we have to live up to their aspirations," the sources said quoting the Prime Minister as saying.
According to sources, the main agenda of the meeting was 'Viksit Bharat 2047' mission.
The sources said that the Prime Minister asked ministers to spend 48 hours in aspirational districts and dedicate a day for addressing public's grievances.
As per sources, three presentations were made in the cabinet meeting on October 9.
The first presentation compared the 2011-2012 economic situation of people in rural areas to the current situation. Earlier in 2011-12, people used to spend between Rs 13,000-14,000 a month in rural areas. Today they spend more than Rs 37,000 a month, the sources said.
The presentation showed that people's expenditure have increased comparing to the past years.
Earlier only four per cent people used vehicles, today 40 per cent people use vehicles.This means that there has been an increase of 900 times in the use of vehicles and it means that there has been a change in the lifestyle of the people. People are progressing, they said.
As per the sources, the second presentation was on Developed India as to how do we see a developed India in 2047 and what work needs to be done towards it. The third one was on "Shashkat or Samridh Bharat" (Strong India and Prosperous India)
Further, discussions on issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir were also held, during which the Prime Minister stressed his pledge to continue working for the overall development of the Union Territory.
The Prime Minister said that the results of the elections in Jammu and Kashmir may be in anyone's favor but the central government has created an environment where people came to vote in large numbers and are getting freedom from terrorism.
"We are working for the development of the people there. Will work with greater speed and will continue to ensure sustainable development of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Kashmir have shown unwavering faith in the Central Government, have participated in the voting enthusiastically and have exercised their vote," the sources said quoting the Prime Minister as saying.
The Prime Minister said that we will have to continue working to provide happiness, peace and prosperity to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Prime Minister has directed all the ministers and officers to focus on the backward districts i.e. aspirational districts with a 48-48 hour formula, that is, the officers and ministers stay in the backward distrcit for 48 hours to ensure development of that district, the sources said.
The sources said that PM Modi asked the ministers to promptly respond to people's letters in order to ensure better performance of their ministries and ensure welfare of the public.
On the Haryana elections, the Prime Minister said that the policies made by the government have been appreciated by the public and the public has chosen the government wholeheartedly once again. This is the victory of the government's policies, PM Modi said, according to the sources. (ANI)
