Patna (Bihar) [India], September 2 (ANI): Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday criticised the Janata Dal United (JDU) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar, alleging that corruption is flourishing like a business wherever there is a double-engine government.
The Congress leader also stated that the BJP and JDU have become "partners in corruption in Bihar."
Speaking to the mediapersons in Patna, Singh said, "Wherever there is a double-engine government, corruption is going on like a business. The leaders of the ruling party are involved in corruption...They have become partners in corruption in Bihar."
When asked about Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's "hydrogen bomb" remark, which he claimed would expose the BJP, the senior Congress leader said, "Wait for the hydrogen bomb."
On Monday, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, warned the BJP of an impending expose, stating that he will soon unleash a "hydrogen bomb" about his allegations of vote theft, adding that what was shown about Mahadevpura was just an "atom bomb."
Addressing a gathering on the last day of the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', Gandhi launched barbed attacks on the BJP, saying that "forces who murdered Mahatma Gandhi are now trying to destroy the Constitution of India."
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge also launched a strong attack on the double-engine government in Bihar, asserting that Nitish Kumar's government would be voted out within six months.
"This double-engine government will not be there in the next 6 months. The government that will come will be of the poor, of poor women, of Dalits and backwards classes," Kharge said while addressing a rally on the last day of 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra' here.
Kharge further accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to win the Bihar Assembly elections through "vote theft" and urged voters to protect their rights, warning, "Otherwise Modi and Amit Shah will drown you."
As the Bihar Assembly elections are expected to be held this year, in October or November, the war of words between the ruling party and the opposition continues.
However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date.
While the NDA, consisting of the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again be looking to continue their stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, consisting of the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will be looking to unseat Nitish Kumar.
In the current Bihar Assembly, comprising 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 members, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U) having 45, HAM(S) having 4, and the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by the Congress with 19, the CPI(ML) with 11, the CPI(M) with 2, and the CPI with 2. (ANI)
