Latur (Maharashtra) [India], October 30 (ANI): Abhimanyu Pawar, the BJP candidate from the Ausa Assembly Constituency in Maharashtra, said on Wednesday that he will fight the election on a development agenda.
"Party (BJP) has given me the ticket for the second time and I have filed my nomination. I will contest the elections on a development agenda. We have done several development works in the constituency and will carry this forward," Abhimanyu Pawar told ANI.
He said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has not decided yet who is their candidate against him would be. He added that whoever his opponent is the people will be on his side.
"The MVA has not decided who will be their candidate. But whoever it is, the people will be with me. There have been a lot of developments in the constituency and many are in the pipeline," he said.
Meanwhile, later in the day, Congress in-charge for Maharashtra, Ramesh Chennithala said nominations have been filed on all 288 seats by the MVA and asked the Congress leaders who have filed nominations independently should withdraw their nominations.
"Nominations have been filed on all 288 seats by Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) candidates. When you compare MVA with Mahayuti, there is no tussle within our group. Mahayuti is finished now," Chennithala told reporters in Mumbai.
"We have given equal treatment to all parties in MVA. In Mahayuti, BJP has stolen all seats of NCP and Shiv Sena-Shinde. This is a clear message that the BJP wanted to kill their alliance partners...We have given 'A' & 'B' forms only to those candidates whose names have been announced by the party. Those Congress leaders who have filed nominations independently should withdraw their nominations," he added.
Chennithala exuded confidence in MVA forming the government in the state.
"We aim to form MVA government in Maharashtra and we are working with this target. The ECI has stopped the Ladli Behen Yojana of the Maharashtra government as the state govt treasury has no funds. The women of Maharashtra will not get any money from the govt. It was all lies told before the elections," he said.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42. (ANI)
