Congress will lose in Gujarat polls: CM Adityanath

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Sept.29 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has predicted that the opposition Congress Party will lose emphatically in the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat, in spite of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi recently spending three days crisscrossing the state in a bid to woo potential voters.

"Rahul Gandhi as the Congress vice-president can go anywhere in the country, but what we hear is that the Congress people themselves say that wherever he (Rahul Gandhi) goes, the party loses that seat or election. Hence, it is decided that the Congress Party will lose in Gujarat," Adityanath said.

Rahul Gandhi was on a three-day Gujarat campaign.

He started his campaign from the Saurashtra region, a Patidar community.

Ironically, the region has been a bastion of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for almost three decades.

The much awaited assembly elections in Gujarat will be held towards the end of 2017 or January, 2018. The dates will be announced officially by the Election Commission few months prior to it. (ANI)
