New Delhi [India], October 22 (ANI): Alleging that the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the centre and that of Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Telangana created economic inequalities, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that his party's six guarantees for Telangana are aimed at social justice and economic empowerment.
"Congress party's 6 guarantees for Telangana are aimed at social justice and economic empowerment. The corrupt misrule of BRS & BJP has created economic inequalities, and our guarantees bridge that widening gap, "Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X.
"We believe in providing a safety net to the vulnerable and the deprived. Our dream of 'Bangaru Telangana' shall only succeed if we take everyone together," he added.
In September, Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi made the announcement of six "guarantees" for the people of Telangana ahead of the assembly polls.
At the 'Vijaya Bheri' rally at Tukkuguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Sonia Gandhi said, "We are announcing six guarantees for the people of Telangana, and we are committed to implementing each of them."
Under the first of six guarantees, "Mahalakshmi", financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month will be given to women in the state.
The "Rythu Bharosa" scheme is for farmers and agriculture labourers. Under this scheme, the Congress promises financial assistance of Rs 15,000 for farmers, 12,000 per year to agriculture labourers, and a bonus of Rs500 per quintal for paddy above the minimum support price.
Other guarantees are for the state's poor families and students, promising them land and financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the construction of houses, 200 units of free electricity, and financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for pursuing higher education, etc.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on October 9 that the Telangana Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on November 30. The counting of votes will be done on December 3.
Telangana is set to witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and the Congress in the upcoming assembly election.
In the previous Assembly election held in 2018, BRS managed to win 88 seats out of 119 and had a dominant vote share of 47.4 per cent. Congress came in a distant second with 19 seats. Its vote share was 28.7 per cent. (ANI)
