Congress should do 'Mafi Yatra' instead of 'Nyay Yatra': Assam Minister Ashok Singhal

"This should not be a Nyay Yatra. Congress had ruled the country for 60 years. Congress should ask pardon from the people of this country for corruption. They should ask 'Mafi' first and they should do a Mafi Yatra instead of Nyay Yatra," Singhal, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, told ANI.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], January 13 (ANI): A day before Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Assam Minister Ashok Singhal on Saturday lashed out at the Congress and said that the party should "ask pardon from the countrymen for corruption" and should do a 'Mafi Yatra' instead.
Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will commence from Imphal in Manipur on January 14 and cover a distance of 6,713 km, straddling 100 Lok Sabha constituencies and 337 assembly segments and covering 110 districts.
He further alleged that during the Congress regime, the people of the country were deprived of even the smallest facilities like sanitation, toilets, bank accounts, drinking water and electricity etc.
"Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered everything. We have 57 crore new bank accounts through Jan Dhan Yojana, people are getting clean drinking water through Har Ghar Jal and Jal Jeevan Mission. Under the Pradhan Matri Awas Yojana, Assam is going to inaugurate 6 lakh houses in the next couple of weeks," Singhal said.
The Assam Minister also said that Congress has lost people's faith and by and large people don't trust Congress.
"All the INDI alliance want to save their family. Sonia Gandhi wants to save her family and promote Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi; Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu promotes his son and everyone tries to protect their families and protect themselves from the investigation of corruption," the Assam Minister said.
Talking about BJP's aim for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Assam Minister said that, the people of this country have already decided that they want to see Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister again and they will vote accordingly.
"Now it is for the BJP party and NDA alliance that how far we can garner that support in the ballot box, EVM. In Assam, out of 14, we think we will be able to win 12 seats. This time it may go 400 plus also and it will be a huge mandate, a historical mandate. After Independence no government, no political party has got that kind of a mandate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will get this time," Singhal stressed. (ANI)
