Congress must apologies for Rahul Gandhi's remark on women in RSS: Anandiben

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], Oct 10 (ANI): Former Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi over his remark on women's participation in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakha and asked the latter and his party to apologise for the same.

She also questioned whether Sonia Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi will approve to his words.

"(Sonia Gandhi aur Rahul ki behen ko poochhna aise shabd mahilaaon ke baare me usne bole, kya wo theek hai? kya aapko pasand aaya?). Ask Rahul Gandhi's mother, Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi if they liked his comment on women," she told ANI.

"Is this how Rahul Gandhi looks at a woman? He has insulted the women of Gujarat. Take your words back and apologise to the women here. Congress should apologise as soon as possible," she added.

Patel also advised Gandhi to do a Google search to find out facts, adding that RSS has had separate branches for women since a long time.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP-RSS of discriminating against women in their organisations and asked if anyone had ever seen women at any RSS 'shakha' meeting wearing shorts, the group's trademark khaki uniform.

"Inka (BJP) main sangathan RSS hai. Kitni mahila hain usme, kabhi shaakha mein mahilaon ko dekha hai shorts mein? Maine to nahi dekha," Rahul said at a meeting in Akota in Gujarat.

(The BJP's main outfit is the RSS. How many women are there in the RSS? Ever seen any RSS 'shakha' (branch) with women wearing shorts? At least I haven't seen any.) (ANI)
