Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 5 (ANI): Following BRS working president KT Rama Rao's statement on Rahul Gandhi criticising bulldozer justice as unconstitutional, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar said that KT Rama Rao was contradicting Gandhi's statement in regard to bulldozing governance in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Kumar said that KTR had been using this particular statement, stating that Rahul Gandhi, who had talked about bulldozer justice in Uttar Pradesh, needs to speak about the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) that demolishes illegal buildings in the state.
"KTR is contradicting Rahul Gandhiji's statement yesterday in regard to the bulldozing governance in Uttar Pradesh. KTR was using this particular statement, saying that Rahul Gandhiji, who is talking about Uttar Pradesh, has to also talk about Telangana regarding the HYDRA, which is demolishing illegal houses," he said.
Kumar further explained that the Telangana government had been demolishing the buildings to save the people from climate change and the environment and further stated that they are also bringing down illegal construction, whereas, in Uttar Pradesh, the government was bulldozing the houses of the people who were convicted, which the Supreme Court ruled against.
"The Congress party in Telangana is demolishing the buildings to save the people from climate change and the environment in the rainy seasons, where the rich people and some builders have illegally constructed... Whereas in Uttar Pradesh the Supreme Court has given this particular verdict saying that the government should not bulldoze the people who have been into conviction... So I want to tell KTR that whenever you compare any incident, it should be something realistic," Kumar added.
This came following KTR's post on X in which he took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, where he said that Gandhi criticising the bulldozer justice in Uttar Pradesh was ironic despite the same done in the state of Telangana under the Congress rule.
He further stated that it was hypocritical of Congress to do such a thing and that "double standards are glaring."
"I welcome and thank the Supreme Court of India for its observation on "Bulldozer Politics" as a blatant assault on people's lives. It is strikingly ironic that Rahul Gandhi Ji criticises bulldozer justice as unconstitutional yet remains silent about the ongoing destruction under his party's rule in Telangana. Under CM Revanth Reddy, Congress persists with the same injustices," his post read.
"Is Congress truly powerless against one man in Telangana, or are they simply masters of hypocrisy? The double standards are glaring, and the people of Telangana deserve much better," KTR said in the X post. (ANI)
