AICC Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala

New Delhi [India], October 16 (ANI): AICC Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala accused the Mahayuti government of "misleading" the people and making "false promises" a day after the elections were announced for the state.
He was speaking to media in the national capital after attending the meeting of the Congress screening committee called to likely decide the candidates for the upcomimg polls in Mahatashtra.
He said that several topics were discussed today, "We will have to chair one more meeting...CEC meeting will be there after this..."
He also lashed out at the Eknath Shinde-led NDA government, saying, "Mahayuti is giving fake promises to people, they were in power for a long time but until now they did not take any decisions but now since election is coming, how come the cabinet took 200 decisions?"
He alleged, "They (Mahayuti) are trying to mislead the people, they don't have to implement this so they are making false promises."
After the meeting, LoP Maharashtra Assembly & Congress leader, Vijay Wadettiwar also hit out at Mahayuti govt, alleging, "...Every state is being looted and wealth is being deposited in Gujarat, Maharashtra is also going to be looted the same way and 80 per cent contractors of Gujarat are working in Maharashtra, so Marathi people are hurt..."

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde earlier on Wednesday at a press conference said, "Our two years of work and performance is the face of our alliance. The MVA should announce their face as the leader of the opposition."
The Chief Minister further said, "We are presenting our two years performance card. This is not an easy thing to present your report card after two years of your government because to produce such a detailed report card, the government has to perform well."
His Deputy Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the press conference.
The Assembly elections for the 288 member assembly in Maharashtra would be held in a single phase on November 20 with counting of votes scheduled to be held on November 23.
In the 2019, Maharashtra Assembly polls, the Congress and unified Shiv Sena had won 154 out of 288 seats as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition. However, this time around the Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar's NCP and Congress are in alliance to counter the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance.
In the Lok Sabha election held this year, MVA won 30 of the state's 48 Lok Sabha seats. The ruling alliance won 17. One seat went to an Independent candidate. (ANI)
