Wayanad (Kerala) [India], April 26 (ANI): The Wayanad District Committee of the Congress party has registered a police complaint in connection with a 'fake video' of leader Rahul Gandhi being circulated on social media in the name of party unit.
The party stated that the video aims to "destroy" the religious harmony of the country and portray the party in a negative light. The party also attacked a copy of the video along with the complaint.
"It has been noticed that a fake video is being made and circulated in the name of Wayanad District Congress Committee with the intention of destroying the religious harmony of the country," the complaint by party's district committee addressed to the Wayanad Police read.
The party demanded the creators of the video be held accountable and that action should be taken against them. It also demanded the video to be removed from social media.
"In this regard, it is requested that the creators of this video, which is deliberately produced and distributed in order to portray the Congress Party in a negative light in society, be identified and held accountable, along with taking action to remove the video from social media," the complaint added.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi contested the Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad during the second phase on Friday. He is seeking a second term to the Parliament from the constituency after winning the seat by a huge margin in 2014.
He is up against a two-pronged challenge of BJP and CPI (M). While CPI has fielded Annie Raja, the BJP has fielded K Surendran from the seat. (ANI)
