"Congress is trying to create a divide in the society..": Ramdas Athawale

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 28 (ANI): Republican Party of India chief and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that Congress is trying to create a divide in the society by alleging that the Constitution would be changed.
Athawale said, "...People seem excited. People have faith in the work done by PM Modi in the last 10 years. The country is moving on the road to development. The Opposition has no issues...INDIA alliance is saying that the Constitution will be changed. I feel nobody can change the Constitution. Congress is trying to create a divide in the society..."

BJP's candidate from Mumbai North Central, Ujjwal Nikam today met the Republican Party of India chief and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale in Mumbai.
After the meeting, both the leaders held a joint press conference.
"I congratulate Ujjwal Nikam for contesting elections from North Central, his father was also an advocate. Our ideology is of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," said, Athawale.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come for the third time as PM in country," he said.
He also lashed out at the opposition INDIA bloc.
"Opposition is saying democracy is in danger, but it's not true. Democracy is safe. And no one can change (Constitution) it," he added.
Prior to the meeting, Nikam told ANI that Parliament is the only way through which one can serve the country.
"A new life is going to start for me which is political life. Till now I used to fight for justice in the court... I think Parliament is the only way through which we can serve the common man," he said.
Nikam is pitted against Congress's Varsha Gaikwad in Mumbai North Central.
A senior public prosecutor, Nikam appeared for the government in several high-profile cases, including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case.
The voting in Mumbai North-Central will be held on May 20, in the fifth phase of the ongoing general elections.
Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second-largest after Uttar Pradesh. The first and the second phases of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections are over. While the first phase took place on April 19, the second phase was conducted on April 26.
Next, the elections in Maharashtra will be held on May 7, May 13, and May 20.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 out of 25 contested seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena secured 18 out of 23 seats.
The undivided NCP, part of the opposition alliance, contested 19 seats and won four. Following the split in the Shiva Sena 2022, the Eknath Shinde faction aligned with the BJP.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
