Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 4 (ANI): The Congress party in Himachal has said that the party is getting stronger each day as old Congress leaders are returning.
Congress legislator and spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore said this while addressing the media along with BJP leaders who joined Congress in Theog assembly constituency. He said that ahead of Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections, the leaders who had left the party due to some reasons are rejoining the party. He said that the one and a half years of Congress government in the state and the election manifesto are drawing public attention.
The Congress party has accused the BJP leaders of misleading people about Congress manifesto and also for making misleading statements about party leaders.
Ujwal Mehta, a Zilla Parishad member of Kumarsain ward of Shimla district, has rejoined the Congress party today along with his supporters in the presence of Rathore at the state Congress headquarters in Rajiv Bhawan.
On this occasion, Rathore said that at present efforts are on to re-join the party's old comrades, which will strengthen the organization.
While targeting the BJP, the Congress leader said that the party is contesting elections strongly in all four Lok Sabha seats of the state, and the BJP has become an issue-less party in these elections; hence, the BJP is making vulgar statements on the manifesto and candidates.
"BJP has lagged behind in the two phases of Lok Sabha elections in the country, hence, it is talking communal things and trying to suppress its opponents. BJP does not have any issues; hence, there is no talk of electioneering, unemployment or corruption. Be it majority or minority in Congress, everything has been taken care of. There is nothing in the party manifesto that the BJP is campaigning for," he said.
"Congress is contesting the elections strongly and will win all four Lok Sabha seats of the state," Rathore added.
Countering the BJP's statements about Anand Sharma contesting from Kangra, the AICC Spokesperson said, "When Prime Minister Narendra Modi could leave Gujarat and contest from Varanasi, then why can't Anand Sharma contest from Kangra? He is from Himachal only and is from Shimla."
"Anand Sharma has made an important contribution to the development of the state and while being a Rajya Sabha MP and Minister at the Centre, he has done many development works for Himachal," Rathore added. (ANI)
