Rajsamand (Rajasthan), August 4 (ANI): Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Saturday took a fresh dig at Congress President Rahul Gandhi and said that he along with the other chief ministers owing allegiance to the party have failed answer the questions pertaining to the developmental work started by them while in power.
Shah made these comments while addressing Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra in Rajsamand district. This 58-day long political rally which has been organised by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is aimed at garnering people's support for the assembly elections to be held later this year.
During his speech, Shah lauded Raje for working day and night for the development of Rajasthan in the last five years.
"It is only Vasundhara Raje who has the courage to speak about the work undertaken by her government for the development of Rajasthan. Congress is asking me what BJP has done in the past 4 years, but I want to ask them what Rahul Baba or his party's chief ministers, have done for the country while in power," Shah said.
The BJP president also criticised the Congress leaders for raising their voices against the National Register of Citizen (NRC) in Assam. He was of the view that it will help the government in weeding out illegal Bangladeshi migrants residing in India.
"From many years, Bangladeshis are entering India illegally but no action was taken by the previous governments. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power, the Centre implemented NRC in order to put an end to the existing problems of migrants in the country. But the Congress is protesting," he said.
Shah further added that since BJP came to power in 2014 a number of schemes for upliftement of the poor in Rajasthan have been implemented. "Rahul baba, if you know counting then count, I don't know Italian else I would have told you in Italian how much we have given to the public. Modi governmnet has brought 116 schemes for Rajasthan populace and still Congress asks what has BJP done?" he said.
In his concluding remark, the BJP president said that his party's government will provide aid to the poor for getting free medical treatment. "In September, we will roll out a new scheme under which the government will provide Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh to the poor for their treatment . This will benefit to as many as 50 crore people in Rajasthan," he said. (ANI)
