Cong. accuses BJP of scam in spectrum auction recovery

New Delhi [India], October 5 (ANI): The Congress on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Government

of deferring recovery of spectrum auction amount by six years, resulting in an interest loss of Rs. 23,821 crore alone to the public exchequer and dubbed it as "2G Spectrum 2.0"

"Prime Minister Modi has been chanting zero tolerance for the past forty months. They have seen many scams such as the Vyapam case, the public distribution system scam, the Modigate scam, under their kitty, and now they have emerged with a new scam. We can name it '2G Spectrum 2.0'. In order to help the telecom companies -- Reliance Jio, Airtel and Idea in a clandestine manner, an inter-ministerial committee comprising of the Telecom and the Finance Ministry was constituted," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, during a press conference.

"About Rs. 23,821 crore that could have come in the national treasure. They are letting it go," Surjewala asserted.

He further said, "The Central Government ignored the norms of auction, and now, instead of thirteen years, they will give back the money in nineteen years."

"The Central Government has no authority to change the rule of auction," Surjewala asserted, and added that this is a breach of trust by Prime Minister Modi's Government.

He also said that they want an answer from the Prime Minister, the Finance Ministry and Telecom Ministry. (ANI)
