Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 6 (ANI): Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pratap Jena expressed confidence that the reintroduced Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party would work in the best interest of the people of Odisha, following its reinstatement by party president Naveen Patnaik.
He further added, senior people, young women, minorities, and people from every part of Odisha have been accommodated in the committee.
Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pratap Jena said, "Naveen Patnaik declares his new team and also the political affairs committee... Senior people, young women, minorities, and people from every part of Odisha have been accommodated in the committee. I welcome this. This committee will do good for the people of Odisha on behalf of BJD..."
After taking charge as the BJD president for the ninth consecutive time, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reorganised the party and reintroduced the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on Monday.
While the BJD originally had the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) as its highest decision-making body, it eventually became inactive.
Last month, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was re-elected as BJD president for the ninth consecutive term. Patnaik, the lone candidate for the post was unanimously elected during the party's State Council meeting held at the party headquarters, Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
After getting elected, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in his first address to party leaders, said, "No one should underestimate the organisational strength of the BJD. The spirit of the BJD workers remains very high. They are our real assets"
Patnaik also described the period from 2000-24 as the "Golden Age" in Odisha's development.
In 2024, the BJP trounced the BJD by securing 78 of the state's 147 assembly seats and in the Lok Sabha polls claimed victory in 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha constituencies. (ANI)
