"Committed to assist everyone affected": Nitish Kumar assures assistance by state after Buxar train accident

At least four people died and around 50 people got injured after 21 coaches of the North-East Superfast train derailed near Raghunathpur station in Buxar district on October 11.

Patna (Bihar) [India], October 12 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday pledged the state government's support to all the victims of the train accident that occurred following the derailment of 21 coaches of the North East Express train in Buxar last night.
Earlier in the day, Kumar announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to be provided to the families of individuals who lost their lives in the accident.
Talking to the reporters here, the CM said, "As soon as we learned about the accident, our teams have been working diligently. Regrettably, four people have lost their lives, but we are committed to assist everyone affected..."
At least four people died and around 50 people got injured after 21 coaches of the North-East Superfast train derailed near Raghunathpur station in Buxar district on October 11.
The North East Express train was going from Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi to Kamakhya in Assam when its 21 coaches derailed at 21.35 on Wednesday near Raghunathpur station of the Danapur division of the East Central Railway.
General Manager of East Central Railways (ECR), Tarun Prakash, told ANI, "Four fatalities have been confirmed and rescue operations are underway. A total of 21 coaches derailed."
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, in his post on X, said that the seriously injured passenger is admitted to AIIMS and is in stable condition.
"Instructions have been given to AIIMS, Patna for quick and best treatment of the passengers injured in the train accident in Buxar, Bihar. The seriously injured passenger is admitted to AIIMS and is in stable condition. The central government is committed to providing all types of health facilities," Mandaviya said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled those who lost their lives in the October 11 train derailment incident in Bihar's Buxar district.
"Pained by the loss of lives due to the derailment of a few coaches of the North East Express. Condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for a quick recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to all those affected," the Prime Minister's office quoted Narendra Modi as saying.
Earlier, almost 12 hours after the accident, Nitish Kumar said that he was 'disheartened' at the incident and was 'extremely sad'.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has described the death of four people in the accident near Raghunathpur railway station in the Buxar district of North-East Express going from Anand Vihar station in Delhi to Kamakhya station in Guwahati as extremely sad and is heartbroken by this tragic incident, a statement from the Chief Minister's Office read.
The Chief Minister has expressed condolences to the families of those killed in this accident and has prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear the loss in this hour of grief, the statement added.
Nitish Kumar also directed the government officials to make arrangements for proper treatment of those injured in the accident and has prayed to God for their speedy recovery. (ANI)
