COAS General Upendra Dwivedi felicitates three for showing resilience against adversity

New Delhi [India], November 6 (ANI): The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday felicitated three special achievers for their resilience and determination.
In a post on X by ADG PI-Indian Army, it mentioned three achievers--Asha Malviya, Apoorv Om and Eric Paul.
"Asha Malviya is a young Cyclist, Mountaineer and Athlete from Madhya Pradesh who has summited two peaks at a young age of 24 years and cycled 25,000 kms through 28 states of the country while spreading awareness on Women safety and women empowerment. Recently in 2024, she undertook a solo cycling expedition covering 11,030 kms from Kanyakumari to Siachen Base Camp. She was assisted throughout her journey by the Indian Army with respect to her logistics and travel," the ADG PI said.

Mentioning the second achiever, Apoorv Om, the Indian Army mentioned her as a young talented and innovative Artist, Yoga Instructor and social activist who did not let his hearing and speech impairment stop him from pursuing his dreams.
"He has been notably awarded the National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in 2017, National Youth Award in 2019 and the FIT India Ambassador in 2022 by Sports Authority of India," it added.

Praising third achiever, Eric Paul, the Army said that he is a young and dynamic person with a distinguished record in sports and expedition car driving.
"Having become paraplegic post a grave accident in 2012, Eric was determined to pursue his passion and has four National records to his name in the Limca Book of Records. An active participant of Accessible India Campaign, he has also won Gold Medal in Shot Put, Javelin and Discus Throw in Delhi State Para Athletics 2023 and won Gold Medal in Table Tennis at the Delhi State Para Championship. Recently he completed a trans-Himalayan expedition from Jammu to Tezu covering 4966 kms in 24 days driving through the highest passes in Ladakh and some of the toughest routes in the North East," the ADG PI added.

"Indian Army is committed to encouraging and celebrating individuals who challenge adversity and are a source of inspiration to the Nation and society through their achievements," it said. (ANI)
