Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 6 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai said that the party will write letters to all 45 political parties and also hold meetings with them to address their doubts about the delimitation process.
On the all-party meeting held on Wednesday on delimitation, Annamalai told reporters, "We will write letters to all the 45 political parties that were invited by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. We will seek time from them, and our senior leaders will personally go to their party office or wherever they will call us".
He accused Chief Minister MK Stalin of holding the meetings to "mislead" the people.
"We believe that if they have any doubts, then it is our duty to go and clarify...when the CM is holding meetings only to mislead. BJP will do productive work. From tomorrow, we are going to write letters to all 45 political parties...," the BJP Chief said.
Earlier, the all-party meeting presided over by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin passed a resolution requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give assurance in the parliament that if delimitation is done, it should be based on the 1971 population census.
64 parties were called for the all-party meeting on Constituency Delimitation, in which 58 parties (including organisations) participated.
As per the resolution, "This all-party meeting unanimously strongly opposes Delimitation based on population, which is seen as a big threat to India's federal structure and Tamil Nadu and other Southern States representation."
The BJP, Tamil Maanila Congress, Pudhiya Tamilagam, Pudhiya Needhi Katchi, and Naam Tamilar Katchi did not participate in the all-party meeting. (ANI)
