Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 2 (ANI): The incumbent MP, Shrikant Shinde, on Thursday filed his nomination as a Shiv Sena candidate from the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency for the 2024 elections.
He was accompanied by the Maharashtra Chief Minister and his father, Eknath Shinde.
Before filing his nomination, Shrikant Shinde also held a roadshow in an open Jeep.
"This time also Modi's govt will be elected with full majority and PM Modi will become the PM again. Just like we are set to win 400 plus seats across the country, we will win 45 plus seats in Maharashtra and in Kalyan, we will win with a record margin...," he told ANI.
CM Shinde also said, "Abki baar 400 paar pakka hai, phir ek baar Modi Sarkaar bhi pakka hai. The people of the country have decided to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for the third time..."
Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded Vaishali Darekar-Rane from the constituency.
Kalyan will vote in the 5th phase on May 20.
Maharashtra, with its 48 Lok Sabha seats, is the second-largest contributor to the Lower House of Parliament after Uttar Pradesh.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 out of 25 contested seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena secured 18 out of 23 seats.
The polling in the state is being held across five phases. Polling for 11 seats in Maharashtra will be held in the third phase on May 7. Of the 48 seats in the state, voting in 13 was conducted across the first and second phases.
The general elections are being held in seven phases in a six-week marathon running from April 19 to June 1.
Polling for the first phase and the second phase was held on April 19 and April 26, respectively.
The next round of voting will be held on May 7. The results will be declared on June 4. (ANI)
