Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 15 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu participated in the 78th Independence Day celebrations held in Vijayawada on Thursday.
CM Naidu extended Independence Day wishes to the citizens and highlighted the NDA government's commitment to the welfare and development of the state.
While addressing the state on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, "The state is now burdened with Rs 9.74 lakh crore in debt due to the previous government. Andhra Pradesh state public is now witnessing independence after the new government formation. A 100-day plan of action was implemented for the destruction of violence. Simple governance and effective governance is our motto."
CM Naidu said that after assuming the charge he signed on a mega DSC project addressing the unemployment issue in the state as promised in the manifesto in the run-up to the assembly elections.
"Andhra Pradesh was formed on October 1, 1953, and later, on November 1, 1956, Hyderabad became the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Potti Sriramulu fought for a separate state. In the short span following the bifurcation of the state, we began constructing the capital of Andhra Pradesh at a rapid pace. Andhra Pradesh has received investments totalling Rs 16 lakh crore. For the welfare of farmers, Rs 68,000 crore was spent on irrigation from 2014 to 2019. During the period from 2014 to 2019, 73 per cent of Polavaram works were completed. If the TDP had continued for five more years, Polavaram would have been completed," he said.
The Chief Minister said that the state fell into disarray due to the previous government. "Government and private lands were looted, starting with the vandalism of Praja Vedika, which continued across the state. The construction of Amaravati as capital was left in ruins. Illegal activities such as land grabbing, sand mining, liquor smuggling, and mining increased, and rowdyism and terrorism grew under the previous government," he said. (ANI)
