"Clean sweep for BJP-NDA": Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker on Rabha Hasong Council Polls

"I am very confident that the BJP-led NDA will secure a landslide victory. Tomorrow is the last day for the withdrawal of nominations, after which campaigning will begin in full swing. The people's overwhelming support indicates that the BJP-led NDA will dominate the polls, and the results on April 4 will bring a big smile to our faces," Momin said.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], March 20 (ANI): Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and senior BJP leader Numal Momin has expressed confidence in the BJP-led NDA's decisive victory in the upcoming Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council election on April 2.
Momin asserted that overwhelming public support suggests a clean sweep for the ruling alliance.
Taking a dig at the Congress, Momin claimed that the people have rejected the party due to its weak leadership and lack of vision.
He accused the Congress of fueling communal tensions in the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council region during its rule.
"I feel sorry for Congress. They are declining day by day because of poor leadership and directionless policies. In the past, Congress created communal conflicts in Rabha Hasong, leading to violence between Garos and Rabhas, as well as Bodos and Rabhas. Many people lost their lives, and tribal communities suffered immensely. Congress attempted to destroy tribal areas systematically while facilitating Bangladeshi infiltration," Momin alleged.
He further emphasized that since the BJP came to power in 2016, peace has prevailed in the region.
"Not a single incident of violence has occurred under the BJP government. Along with peace, the people also want development, and our government is committed to ensuring progress in every part of the state. The people of Rabha Hasong are showing their trust in the NDA coalition while Congress's influence continues to diminish. The upcoming election will make the BJP's victory even more evident," he added.
The election for 36 constituencies of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council is set for April 2, and the votes will be counted on April 4.
A total of 445586 voters, including 216181 male voters, 229394 female voters and 11 others, will exercise their franchise in 630 polling stations.
According to the Assam State Election Commission, the last date for filing nominations is scheduled for March 15, and withdrawal of candidature is March 19.
The Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council area is covered in the Goalpara and Kamrup districts of Assam.
The Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) was constituted by the Government of Assam for all-around development in the area of economic, educational, socio-cultural and ethnic identity of Rabha people residing in the council area.
The Rabhas are an aboriginal tribe of Assam. They are categorised as a plain Schedule tribe in the state. (ANI)
