CJI recommends ex-Delhi HC Chief Justice Rajendra Menon as next chairman of Armed Forces Tribunal

New Delhi [India], Sept 30 (ANI): Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on Monday recommended former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Rajendra Menon as the next chairman of Armed Forces Tribunal.

New Delhi [India], Sept 30 (ANI): Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on Monday recommended former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Rajendra Menon as the next chairman of Armed Forces Tribunal.
"We have recommended Justice Rajendra Menon as Chairman. The Chairman is going to retire on October 6. Let that be done and in the meanwhile, judgment will be delivered," a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, and Justices SA Bobde and S Abdul Nazeer said.
The present chairman J Virender Singh will retire on October 6.
Attorney General KK Venugopal informed the court the provisions of Finance Act regarding appointment procedure to members of Tribunals is under challenge. He said that the appointments be deferred until the matter is decided.
But the bench refuses to defer the matter and directs that the appointment be cleared.
Attorney General KK Venugopal assured the bench that the appointments Committee will clear the proposal for the appointment Menon. (ANI)
