Chhattisgarh to be open defecation free by Oct 2018: Raman Singh

Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh) [India], September 14 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday assured to make the state free from open defecation by October 2018.

While addressing a crowd here, Singh said, "We aim to make Chhattisgarh open defecation free by October 2018. There will not be a house without toilets. Also, due to the negligence of banks, the subsidy for LPG consumers has not been received for nearly six months. So we are planning to implement plans and strategies to benefit the people of the state in the best possible way."

Earlier in the day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister had lunch at the house of a Dalit resident of Aalikhuta village.

While on his visit to Rajnandgaon district, Singh, along with former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister and chief of Chhattisgarh Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd Lilram Bhojwani, reached Gendlal Sonwani's place, where they highly appreciated the taste of the food they had.

The Chief Minister said, "I want to have food at every worker's house but due to my busy schedule, I cannot do so."

"Today, I came from the car and after meeting the villagers of four villages, it was good to eat lunch at Sonawani's house," he added. (ANI)
