Chhattisgarh preps up for first phase polling amid tight security

Sukma (Chhattisgarh) [India], Nov 10 (ANI): With a day left for the first phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections, the district administrations are leaving no stone unturned to ensure peaceful polling in the security-sensitive state.

Poll preparedness via helicopter

Sukma (Chhattisgarh) [India], Nov 10 (ANI): With a day left for the first phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections, the district administrations are leaving no stone unturned to ensure peaceful polling in the security-sensitive state.
Earlier today, several teams were sent to sensitive areas of Sukma and Bastar district for the poll preparedness via helicopter. The volunteers are being taken to their respective polling stations amid tight security.
In Bastar, out of 245 polling stations, 76 have been shifted to a safe place.
Speaking to ANI, an official said, "Here the battle is not only between political parties but also between police and Naxals. Ahead of elections, Naxals are trying to create an atmosphere of fear among the voters. That is why; police have tightened the security arrangements."
In Bastar, 25,000 security personnel have been deployed to ward off any untoward situation.
As many as 18 assembly seats in eight districts of Chhattisgarh will go to polls on Monday. The polling for remaining 72 seats will take place on November 20 and the counting of votes will take place on December 11.(ANI)
