Chhattisgarh: Jawan kills himself with service weapon

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Chirag Paswan and BJP State President and Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary on Thursday offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary, MA Baby, strongly condemned the police inspection conducted at the headquarters of Malayalam news channel Reporter TV, termed the operation an act of “intimidation” and drew parallels to the Emergency era.

Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma welcomed the death penalty verdict for all 10 convicts in the Jhiram Ghati Maoist attack case and said that it will strengthen the public's faith in the judicial system. 

The NIA Special Court in Jagdalpur on Wednesday awarded death penalty to all 10 convicts in the Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack case. The court had found them guilty on September 5 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and reserved its order on the quantum of punishment.

The initiative not merely aims to educate the children, but to empower them to become self-reliant and join the mainstream of society. Adopting a sensible approach towards ‘Divyang’ children, the Chhattisgarh government feels the need for a place where these children could avail the benefit of requisite therapy as well as training along with the education.
