Chhattisgarh Govt. committed to farmers' welfare: Raman Singh

Bemetara (Chhattisgarh) [India] Oct 8 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh on Sunday said the state government is committed to farmers' welfare and will provide them three types of benefits.

He said the farmers of Chhattisgarh shouldn't worry about the natural calamities as the state government is committed to provide them three types of benefits.

"Total bonus of Rs. 2100 crores would be transferred to 13,50,000 farmers till October 13 before Diwali. The farmers will not only get Rs. 2100 crore as paddy bonus, but will also get draught relief fund and crop insurance claim amount," Singh said.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister distributed paddy bonus to farmers in Bemetara and Kharora.

In Bemetara, Rs. 115.58 crores was distributed to 74114 farmers.

In Kharora, the Chief Minister disbursed Rs. 141 crores to 93257 farmers and participated in ground breaking ceremony and inauguration of 50 projects worth Rs. 200 crore.

While speaking at Kharora, Singh also launched scathing attack on the Congress Party.

"The Congress ruled Chhattisgarh for three years but never cared about the farmers. They were purchasing MLAs and we are purchasing paddy," Singh said.

The paddy bonus will be given in the 18 rice producing districts across the state. (ANI)
