Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Sept 22 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Friday announced a bonus of Rs 2100 Crore to farmers.

The Chhattisgarh government put forth the second supplementary budget in a specially convened one-day session at the State Legislative Assembly, to seek House approval for spending about Rs 2,100 crore on distribution of bonuses to the farmers.

The Raman Singh-led government has also decided to disburse a bonus of Rs 300 per quintal of paddy before the festival of Diwali.

"Farmers of the state are happy with the announcement. As many as 70,000 farmers of Rajnandgaon have thanked me," Singh said.

In addition, the farmers have also benefited from a bonus of Tendu leaves worth Rs 1233 Crore by the government, informed the Singh.

"Every year, the farmers receive Rs 1670 Crores of subsidy on electricity," Singh said.

Singh claimed that the system of paddy purchase in Chhattisgarh is a model followed by all states. (ANI)
