Chandigarh [India] Nov 2 (ANI): After fratricidal battle within the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Chautala family, party's national president and Haryana's former Chief Minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala on Friday expelled his grandsons - Dushyant Chautala and his brother Digvijay Chautala - from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.
Dushyant Chautala, Member of Parliament from Hisar, has also been removed from the post of leader of the INLD Parliamentary Board.
Both, Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay were accused of indiscipline, hooliganism and spreading disaffection within the party against the party leadership during the birthday celebrations of former deputy prime minister Chaudhary Devi Lal in Gohana on October 7.
OP Chautala conveyed to the party office that he did not need any outside evidence since he was a witness to the indiscipline and unruly scenes that also continuously interrupted his speech on that day (Oct 7) but still he had referred the matter to the Disciplinary Action Committee of the party.
The Committee finally concluded that both are guilty as charged.
"It was not an easy decision for me to make. All my life I have been following the principles and ideals of my father Jana Nayak Chaudhary Devi Lal for whom the party was always bigger than the individual or any family member. Thus I had to make a choice between the party and members of the family and I had chosen the party and decided to concur with the conclusions of the Disciplinary Committee," OP Chautala said.
The rift between INLD started soon after Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala were convicted in a teachers' recruitment scam in January 2013. Both are serving ten-year sentences in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
The party has been out of power for the last 14 years and with its top leaders in jail, it became difficult for Abhay Chautala (Om Prakash's elder son) to hold the party together but soon he managed and served as the leader of opposition in the state assembly.
His nephew Dushyant Chautala is the youngest MP in the Lok Sabha and is popular among the youth in the state.
Dushyant has always been unhappy with his uncle Abhay Singh Chautala because of his controversial past and arrogant functioning of the party.
His younger brother Digvijay Chautala is an ally in his campaign and together they headed Indian National Students Organisation (INSO) student wing of the INLD.
But this didn't go well with OP Chautala and on October 11 he dissolved it's student wing INSO just before student union elections on October 17.
The party stated that both wings of the INLD were found to be lacking in discipline and commitment to the ideals of the party.
INSO was found indulging in anti-party activities during the Gohana rally on October 7, 2018.
On Thursday, Dushyant's mother Naina Chautala said that this is injustice with my children, falsehood is trying to dominate the truth and people within the party itself are doing so.
Naina was attending Hari Chunari Choupal in Charkhi Dadri and as soon the slogans of 'Dushyant as future Chief Minister' were raised, she said that "you (people) have laid the foundation of the house by placing such slogans. Now it's time to reach the conclusion."
The Assembly Elections are due to be held in Haryana in April or May 2019. (ANI)
