Chattisgarh: Naxalite death toll rises to 31 in ongoing encounter with police in Narayanpur-Dantewada border

The death toll of Naxals rose to 31 in the ongoing joint operation by DRG Dantewada and STF Narayanpur in the Maad area on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border, said police.

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) [India], October 5 (ANI): A total of 31 bodies of Naxalites have been recovered in the ongoing joint operation by DRG Dantewada and STF Narayanpur in the Maad area on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border, said police.
The CRPF DRG re-enforcement party was also sent to the spot to assist the security personnel already present at the spot.
One Jawan of DRG is injured in the operation and is out of danger, said police.
According to the officials, a huge amount of automatic weapons have been recovered from the encounter spot.
"A total of 31 bodies of Naxalites have been recovered so far in the encounter. A search operation is going on. CRPF/DRG additional re-enforcement forces sent. LMG Rifle, AK 47 Rifle, SLR Rifle, INSAS Rifle, Calibre.303 Rifle and other weapons recovered. One Jawan of DRG is injured and is out of danger," said IG Bastar P Sundarraj.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday night regarding the encounter with police in the Maad area on Narayanpur-Dantewada border, said Chhattisgarh CMO.
The encounter broke out between security personnel and naxalites in the Abhujmaad forest along the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada district after the police team launched a search operation following an input regarding the presence of naxalites in the region.
