New Delhi [India], March 9 (ANI): Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda praised the Indian team for its ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph. Nadda took to his official 'X' handle and offered his greetings on Team India's third Champions Trophy win.
"Champion of Champions. My heartfelt congratulations to the Indian Men's Cricket Team for winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand in finals. This victory speaks volumes about the team's determination and never give up attitude. Each player gave their best, and this is a win that will be remembered for years to come. The whole nation is celebrating today, and I'm sending my best wishes to the team for continued success", JP Nadda's 'X' post read.
New Zealand ended up winning the toss and opted to bat first in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Kiwis started off brilliantly as their openers Rachin Ravindra (37) and Will Young (15) put up a score of 57 runs for the first wicket. Daryl Mitchell and Michal Bracewell also played a brilliant hand and contributed with innings of 67 and 54* runs respectively.
Indian bowlers, including Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy picked two wickets apiece. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja picked up one wicket each.
Coming out to chase the target, the Indian team was given a blazing start by openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rohit took on the Kiwi bowlers from the first ball and disrupted their line and length. Rohit went on to score his first half-century of the tournament and played an innings of 76 runs from 83 balls.
Gill also contributed with valuable runs and played a knock of 31 runs from 50 balls. After a brilliant start, the Indian team lost three quick wickets in a span of 20 runs. Virat Kohli departed for just one run.
However, the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul contributed with much-needed runs and helped the Indian team win the title. (ANI)
