New Delhi [India], Oct 25 (ANI): The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has sent a proposal for Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CBIMS) to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"This (CBIMS) will be integrating the communication response from every sector. This will help in response time," said Director General of ITBP, RK Pachnanda.
He added that the ITBP has introduced the system of war-game exercises, which would help in the planning and management of any eventuality related to the northern borders.
The Home Ministry has already sanctioned two helicopters for the ITBP.
The ITBP has established a Close Quarters Battle school for the recognition of good work by the commandos posted in Afghanistan. They are securing the Indian Embassy in Kabul and four other consulates in Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, Jalalabad, and Kandahar. About 300 ITBP personnel have been deployed in Afghanistan since 2006.
In the special medal category for serving animals of the force, canine named Bagheera, posted in 27 Battalion in Chhattisgarh and horse named Mayur were awarded special awards by Home Minister Rajnath Singh during the 57th Raising Day Parade of the ITBP on Thursday.
Raised in 1962, the ITBP guards 3,488 km of long borders in the Himalayas on the Border Out-Posts (BoPs) at altitudes ranging from 9,000 to 18,700 feet. Apart from border guarding, the ITBP is also deployed for anti-Naxal operations and other internal security duties. (ANI)
