CBI registers case against Yantra India Ltd official for demanding Rs 1 lakh bribe

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 26 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the Works Manager of Yantra India Limited (Grey Iron Foundry), Jabalpur (a Central PSU) for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1,00000, the agency said in release on Thursday.
According to the CBI release, the accused allegedly demanded the bribe on May 18, 2023, from the complainant's son in exchange for signing the Work Completion Certificate (WCC).
"The case was registered on Wednesday, September 25 on the basis of recent communications of Director Vigilance, Yantra India Ltd., Nagpur, regarding complaint submitted by a Proprietor of a Jabalpur based private service agency, against the said Works Manager, Grey Iron Foundry, Jabalpur on demand of alleged bribe," the CBI release read.
"The said Proprietor was, allegedly, awarded a contract to provide 12 Fireman and 6 Fire Engine Driver to Grey Iron Foundry, Jabalpur. Vide letter dated Aug 12, 2023 addressed to Yantra India Ltd. HQ, Nagpur, complainant alleged that he did not receive the WCC (Work Completion Certificate) for the month of June 2023. Further, he allegedly submitted bills for April, May and June 2023 amounting to Rs 16,00,000. It was alleged that the accused Works Manager was deliberately not signing on the WCC and started demanding money. The demand for a bribe by the accused Works Manager from the son of the complainant on Whatsapp call, was allegedly video recorded," it added.
Searches were conducted by the CBI on Thursday at the residential and official premises of the accused in Jabalpur, leading to the recovery of various incriminating documents. Further investigation into the matter is underway, the CBI added in its release. (ANI)
