CBI raids senior accountant in Imphal; recovers cash, gold ornaments

The West Bengal government on Thursday provided officers of requisite seniority for being appointed as Returning Officers for the forthcoming Assembly Elections, on the insistence of the Election Commission of India.

The arrests followed a police raid on March 11, after authorities received reliable information about the use of harmful ingredients in violation of food safety regulations. The individuals were operating under the names "SEVEN COOKS" and "Arjun Enterprises".

Telangana Jagruthi President K Kavitha received a notice by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor scam case.

Former IPS officer RN Ravi takes oath as the Governor of West Bengal at a ceremony in Lok Bhawan on Thursday in Kolkata. He was administered the oath by Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Paul, in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, Senior Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and Left Front chairman Biman Bose. According to the police, the raid was conducted after authorities received specific information from an informant regarding gambling activities taking place at the farmhouse. Acting on the tip-off, a police team reached the location and carried out the operation.
