Muzaffarpur (Bihar) [India], Dec 7 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is examining the shelter home based in Muzaffarpur and collecting all evidence from the premises in which as 40 minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted over a period of time.
"We have come here to search the water tank in which prime accused Brajesh Thakur drowned a girl. Currently, we can't say anything. We have not found anything yet, but we have taken samples," said PK Jha, ASP, CBI.
This comes after the Supreme Court earlier ordered an immediate medical examination of Brajesh Kumar Thakur lodged in Patiala Jail in Punjab in connection the case.
The court ordered submission of his medical report by December 10. The order came after Thakur's children approached the top court alleging in a letter that their father was being tortured, physically and mentally in jail, by the Superintendent purportedly for money. The apex court had earlier ordered the transfer of Thakur from Bhagalpur jail in Bihar to Patiala jail in Punjab while noting that he seemed to have significant influence in the State.
In the Muzaffarpur case, over 40 minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted over a period of time in the shelter home which was run by Thakur's state-funded non-governmental organisation (NGO). Thakur is allegedly the mastermind of the incidents.
Earlier this year, Mumbai-based Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) had uncovered the Muzaffarpur shelter home scandal in Bihar. As many as 11 employees including Thakur were arrested. (ANI)
