"Can't handle J-K...": Omar Abdullah takes jibe at BJP

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 5 (ANI): Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar mocked the Centre over it claim to merge the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) with Jammu and Kashmir, saying while they can't handle one part but talking about taking another part which is not under their control.
He also expressed concern over the terror attack in the Poonch sector on Saturday evening, saying it indicates that the situation is far away from normalcy.
"We are again witnessing militancy in those areas which were militancy-free in the last five years. Two places need special mention. One is Srinagar where (terror) attacks repeatedly took place on police and minority community," Omar, the National Conference Vice-President told reporters here.
"And the Rajouri-Poonch area. We had almost made this area free from militancy when our party was in power. But the terror attack on the Indian Air Force on Saturday evening indicates that the situation is remote from normalcy," Omar added.
Terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force convoy on Saturday evening, in which one personnel was killed.
Replying to a query that BJP is claiming to merge Pakistan Occupied Kashmir with J&K ,the NC veteran leader said, "Who is stopping them? But they should first focus on part (J&K) which is with them. Everyone knows the situation here. They can't handle it and are going to take that part which is not under their control".

Responding to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's remark, "PoK will be merged with India," Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said on Sunday that Pakistan is not wearing bangles and also has atom bombs that will fall on us.
"If the defence minister is saying it, then go ahead. Who are we to stop? But remember, they (Pakistan) are also not wearing bangles. It has atom bombs, and unfortunately, that atom bomb will fall on us," he said.
Earlier in April, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that considering the development taking place in India, the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will themselves demand to be with India.
"Don't worry. PoK was, is and will remain ours," Singh said, addressing a rally at West Bengal's Darjeeling, where the BJP had nominated sitting MP Raju Bista.
"India's power is increasing. India's prestige is increasing around the world, and our economy is fast progressing. Now our brothers and sisters in PoK will themselves demand to come with India," Singh further said.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is part of India and added that there is a resolution of the Indian Parliament which states that PoK is part of the country.
He noted that people were made to forget about PoK, however, it is now back in the consciousness of the people of India.
Asked about India's plans for PoK during an interactive session in Cuttack, Jaishankar responded, "PoK has never been out of this country. It is part of this country. There is a resolution of the Indian Parliament that PoK is very much a part of India. Now, how did PoK, how did other people get control? You know, when you have someone who is not a responsible custodian of a house, someone steals from outside. Now, here you have allowed another country." (ANI)
