Imphal (Manipur) [India], October 7 (ANI): Manipur Congress spokesperson Ningombam Bupenda Meitei hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, alleging that the state's Congress president Keisham Meghachandra is being "silenced" for speaking the truth about Manipur violence.
Congress has alleged that Manipur Congress President Keisham Meghachandra has received an ED summons after he has consistently spoken about Manipur's ongoing violence, calling it a politics of "vendetta, vengeance, harassment, and revenge."
In a post on X, spokesperson Meitei said Our @INCManipur Manipur PCC President Shri @meghachandra_k can't be silenced for speaking truth and for the people of Manipur by Modi government and its agencies. We will fight it legally in court," the post read.

The spokesperson also said that they will be challenging the ED summons in court.
Earlier, Congress General Secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh had also said that Manipur Congress President Meghachandra had received an ED summons,
Jairam Ramesh said that Meghachandra had been speaking out against PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the mishandling of the Manipur violence.
"K. Meghachandra Singh, MLA and President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, has been speaking out fearlessly and aggressively against the non-biological PM, the Union Home Minister, the Chief Minister of Manipur, and the BJP, exposing the manner in which they have destroyed Manipur since May 2023," read the post.
Alleging that the ED summons is an excuse to cover the up the union government's "colossal failures", Ramesh said, "This action is to cover up the Union Govt's colossal failures in the state - reflected in Mr. Narendra Modi's refusal to visit the state since it blew up 17 months back."
"Those who are afraid intimidate. @INCIndia will never be silenced," Jairam Ramesh added.
On August 19, Keisham Meghachandra had spoken about the situation in Manipur and alleged negligence and ignorance on the part of the BJP-led state government and the Centre, claiming that the ruling party has not provided any clear roadmap to restore peace in the state despite repeated appeals from the INDIA bloc.
Speaking to ANI, the Manipur Congress chief said, "The opposition party in the state appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur once, which he did not do in the course of the 15 months after the violence hit the state. The Congress and the entire INDIA bloc had requested the Centre a concrete roadmap to intervene and resolve the problems of the people of Manipur after the crisis." (ANI)
