"Buyers shifting to vocal for local; no Chinese products sold": CAIT head Praveen Khandelwal

New Delhi [India], March 24 (ANI): Praveen Khandelwal, General Secretary of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), said on Sunday that according to a survey, business worth Rs 50,000 crore has been done across the country on the occasion of Holi, and the best thing is that PM Modi's calls for Atmanirbhar Bharat call and vocal for locals is being widely accepted by the people.
Speaking to ANI, Khandelwal said that no Chinese products were sold in this festive season, which is the result of a change in the thoughts of buyers and sellers.
"Tomorrow is Holi, we have conducted a survey according to which business worth Rs 50,000 crore has been done in the entire country, out of which business worth Rs 5,000 crore was done in Delhi. The best thing is that PM Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat call and vocal for local have got a big place in it," he said.
He further added that after the Galwan Valley incident, the people started boycotting the Chinese products, which has led to positive results.
"Earlier when the customer used to come, they used to say show me the cheap item, meaning Chinese goods. Ever since what China did in Galwan Valley, we together launched a campaign to boycott Chinese products in Delhi. It is our endeavour to gradually free the country from Chinese products," Praveen Khandelwal told ANI.
Meanwhile, on the eve of Holi celebrations, the fervour, frolic, and essence of the festival have hit markets across the country, which are filled with vibrant colours, toys, and different items selling in the market to add up to the festival.
People across the country are flocking to markets to purchase sweets, and colors. Streets are filled with temporary shops selling gulal, colours, toys, and other decor.
Also, shops are seen selling, masks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, touching the political landscape with Lok Sabha polls just around the corner.
In addition, the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has made an effective impact on the market, as, due to the IPL, water guns with images of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in great demand.
The shopkeepers hope for good sales in this festive season.
Not only the Indians but also the foreign tourists from all over the world can be seen enjoying the festival in different parts of the country.
Ahead of the Holi celebrations, tourists were seen flocking to Pushkar to get a taste of the famous 'Pushkar ki Holi'.
The festival is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is believed to have spent a considerable amount of time in a region called Braj in Uttar Pradesh. It not only replicates the spirit of Holi but also impersonates the timeless love of Radha and Krishna. (ANI)
