Bulandshahr violence: Road, college to be named after slain cop

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Dec 6 (ANI): A road and a college in Uttar Pradesh will be named after Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who was killed in a mob attack in Bulandshahr three days back, the state government announced on Thursday as a gesture of special tribute to the slain police officer.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Dec 6 (ANI): A road and a college in Uttar Pradesh will be named after Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who was killed in a mob attack in Bulandshahr three days back, the state government announced on Thursday as a gesture of special tribute to the slain police officer.
The state government said the Jaithari-Kuraoli road, leading to the village of the slain police Inspector in Etah, will now be called 'Shri Subodh Kumar Singh Shahid Marg'.
It has also been decided to take care of the education of the officer’s children besides financial liabilities such as loan repayment, etc. The announcements were made as Subodh Kumar’s family met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence. State Director General of Police OP Singh was also present.
Subodh Kumar was killed in mob violence in Bulandshahr on December 3 after carcasses of allegedly 25 cattle were found in the forests close to a police post, with cow vigilantes alleging that those were the remains of cows slaughtered illegally. A local youth was also killed in the violence.
According to sources, the post-mortem examination conducted on Subodh Kumar confirmed gunshot injury by .32 mm bore bullet on his head. Till now, four people have been arrested in connection with his killing.
Briefing the media after Subodh Kumar’s widow and children met the Chief Minister, DGP Singh said the family of the deceased is being provided with a financial aid of Rs 50 lakh.
“Some loans from the bank was also taken by the family for the education of the children, the government will also take care of it. In an informal way, we will be providing assistance to both the children of the deceased for coaching. The wife of the deceased will also be provided with an extraordinary pension," said elaborated.
Atul Garg, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, said the government has decided to name a college after the Inspector. “To respect the sentiments of the family and courage of the brave police officer, we have also decided to name a college after the martyred police officer Subodh Singh." He added, "The chief minister appreciated the strength and composed approach of the family in dealing with the big loss.”
Garg also explained, “We have decided that the government will take care of the loan amounting to about Rs 25-30 lakh, which the family had taken for house and children's education.” Following the gruesome incident, Adityanath had announced a relief of Rs 40 lakh for Singh's wife, Rs 10 lakh for his parents and a government job for a member of his family.
The deceased’s son Shrey Pratap Singh expressed faith in the government saying, "The chief minister has assured us that we will get justice and the culprits will be punished." (ANI)
