Congress leader Kapil Sibal speaks with ANI on Tuesday

New Delhi [India], Dec 4 (ANI): Senior Congress leader and former union cabinet minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday launched a scathing attack against Uttar Pradesh government over Bulandshahr violence, which claimed two lives, including that of a cop. Sibal also questioned the condition of law and order in the state.

Sibal further expressed astonishment upon how a police officer investigating the Akhlaq lynching case was killed.

"As far as this Bulandshahr violence is concerned, who is fanning this violence? The 400 people who gathered outside a police station, who were these people. It's a shocking state of affairs how a mob killed a police officer investigating the Akhlaq case. Who gives these people the authority to take law in their hands? The policeman was killed by a bullet injury which means they were also carrying gun. These 400 people came at that place with a certain mentality and indulged in violence killing people, who are behind them and why such thing is happening in Uttar Pradesh," Sibal told ANI.

The Congress leader also accused the state government of meting a partisan treatment towards a certain section and said, "Who are defending these 400 people? We have seen before in the state as well that the target of violence is made an accused and the people who indulged in the violence are given bail. I want to ask Yogi ji, what about pending cases against him? He is not allowing those cases to proceed further, what kind of politics is it?"

Sibbal also dragged Prime Minister Narendra Modi into the issue and took a dig at his promise of bringing a change in the country.

"I also want to ask Modi ji that he said that he will bring a change in India but is it the change that he was talking about? They are doing politics of fear, it is politics of hiding corruption, it is politics of revenge. They are doing politics over Lord Ram. They do not want any change but only revenge," Sibal added.

Intensifying his attack on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Sibal said, "His own state (Uttar Pradesh) is in shambles and he is spewing venom in other states. Owaisi has announced a candidate in a way that would benefit BJP and somewhere he is the C team of BJP. But the way Adityanath says that he will not let Owaisi live in the state after coming to power is wrong. What kind of politics is this?"

Inspector Subodh Kumar and a local youth were killed in Bulandshahr on Monday when a mob went on a rampage over allegations of illegal cow slaughter. He was also the Investigating officer (IO) in the Akhlaq lynching case.

27 people have been named by Police in FIR against violent protests which broke out after cattle carcasses were found in Bulandshahr. 60 unnamed people have also been mentioned in the FIR. (ANI)
