BSF recovers suspected packet of heroin in Punjab's Amritsar

Border Security Force troops recovered a suspected packet of heroin weighing 500 grams in Punjab's Amritsar, officials said on Tuesday.

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], May 28 (ANI): Border Security Force troops recovered a suspected packet of heroin weighing 500 grams in Punjab's Amritsar, officials said on Tuesday.
On May 28, the troops promptly carried out an extensive search operation in the suspected area, following information about the presence of narcotics in the border area of Amritsar, according to the BSF public relations officer.
"During the search at about 1:00 pm, the troops recovered 1 packet of suspected heroin (gross weight: 500 grams) in partially burned condition. The narcotics were wrapped with yellow adhesive tape and an improvised plastic string loop was found attached with the packet. This recovery took place in a farming field adjacent to village Daoke in Amritsar district," the PRO added.
Earlier, on May 27, in a joint operation with Punjab police recovered a packet of suspected heroin weighing 530 grams in the border area of district Tarn Taran, said Public Relations Officer BSF.
The search was conducted based on information provided by the BSF intelligence wing about the presence of heroin.
"The search culminated at about 2:00 pm with the recovery of one packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 530 Grams). The narcotics were wrapped with yellow adhesive tape and a metal ring was found attached to the packet. This recovery took place in a ditch on the outskirts of village- Dal in Tarn Taran district," said the statement. (ANI)
