New Delhi [India], December 18 (ANI): BSES and AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) Delhi have joined hands to promote eco-friendly mobility.
In a landmark initiative to advance green transportation and improve accessibility across the sprawling 213-acre AIIMS campus, BSES is providing 27 zero-pollution electric buses to the premier health facility under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for the hospital's free in-campus shuttle service.
This initiative underscores BSES' commitment to societal progress and environmental sustainability, enhancing transportation for patients, their families, doctors, and medical staff across the massive campus, according to an official release.
The collaboration between BSES and AIIMS will significantly reduce the campus's carbon footprint, aligning with their shared goal of fostering eco-friendly solutions for the welfare of hospital employees and the thousands of patients who visit the institution daily from across the country.
Under this initiative, the first batch of 11 electric buses was flagged off today by AIIMS Director M. Srinivas and the BSES leadership team. The BSES team was led by BSES Director and Group CEO Amal Sinha, Director on the BSES Board V.S. Verma, and BYPL CEO Amarjeet Singh. Senior officials from BSES and AIIMS, along with doctors, were also present at the event.
The remaining electric buses will be delivered progressively by March 31, 2025. This initiative exemplifies BSES' vision of not just powering 50 lakh homes but also fulfilling hopes, dreams, and societal aspirations.
Of the 27 buses, 20 will serve patients and their families, while seven are designated for doctors and AIIMS staff, ensuring smooth and efficient movement within the hospital premises, which sees an average daily footfall of over 10,000 visitors.
Highlighting BSES' commitment to societal progress beyond reliable electricity supply, a BSES spokesperson said, "At BSES, we believe in powering not just homes but also hopes, dreams, aspirations, and societal progress. Our donation of electric buses to AIIMS is a testament to our ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability with social responsibility, providing innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life for the community and make Delhi a better place to live."
Over the years, BSES' CSR initiatives have positively impacted lakhs of beneficiaries, with healthcare being a key focus area. Health remains central to BSES' CSR efforts, which have touched the lives of over 20 lakh beneficiaries through various programmes, including eye care camps, tobacco de-addiction initiatives, menstrual hygiene drives, and support for differently-abled individuals. BSES' commitment to health was further demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic when it donated oxygen concentrators, hand sanitisers, PPE kits, and masks to Delhi residents and frontline healthcare workers.
BSES' donation to AIIMS is a strategic step towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure while promoting environmental sustainability. As AIIMS houses approximately 1,000 doctors and faculty members and 8,000 paramedical staff, these electric buses will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and eco-friendly transportation for all.
This initiative not only highlights BSES' dedication to health and well-being but also reinforces its vision for a greener, more sustainable future. Through such programmes, BSES continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to corporate citizenship, creating a lasting impact on society. (ANI)
