Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 6 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and former MP K Kavitha strongly expressed her disappointment towards Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for failing to address the Women's Reservation Bill in her recent letter to the Prime Minister.
Ahead of the special Parliament Session beginning September 18, Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to PM Modi demanding a discussion and debate on several issues including the current economic situation of the country.
In a post shared on social media platform X, MLC Kavitha expressed her disappointment and said, "Saddened to see that the urgency for discussing the Women's Reservation Bill was completely ignored in Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson and MP Sonia Gandhi Ji's letter to the Prime Minister."
In her letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi outlined nine crucial issues, but notably, there wasn't any mention of the Women's Reservation Bill.
Kavitha questioned this omission, stating, "Isn't women's representation a national imperative? Mrs Gandhi, the nation awaits your powerful advocacy for gender equality."
MLC Kavitha's appeal for the Women's Reservation Bill, yet again gained nationwide attention yesterday when she urged all political parties to unite and support a more inclusive democracy.
Kavitha's letter was sent to the heads of 47 parties with representation in Parliament including the Indian National Congress, and her call received widespread support from leaders across the political spectrum. (ANI)
