British woman raped near Goa's Palolem beach, accused arrested

Palolem (Goa) [India], Dec 21 (ANI): A man has been arrested for allegedly raping and robbing a British woman near Goa's Palolem beach.

Palolem (Goa) [India], Dec 21 (ANI): A man has been arrested for allegedly raping and robbing a British woman near Goa's Palolem beach.
The incident took place yesterday, when the 48-year-old victim was returning to her home in Palolem from Canacona Railway station.
The accused has been identified as Ramchandrappa (30) and is a resident of Tamil Nadu.
According to IGP Goa police Jaspal Singh, the victim was robbed of Rs 20,000 cash, her passport and some personal belongings. Later, all belongings except cash were found about 50 meters away from the crime scene.
The police based on the description given by the victim and CCTV footage nabbed the accused from Margao Railway station here.
A case under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Canacona police station. (ANI)
