Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 11 (ANI): BRS Working President and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao's son, KT Rama Rao, stated that the BJP and Congress were conspiring against BRS, further applauding the work done by his father in the state.
"Rahul Gandhi and the BJP are together in this. Kaleshwaram is such a project that has over 100 components. The entire system is intact... In over 100 components, there is one barrage, and out of 85 pillars in that barrage, two are damaged. And that too, I think, is done by some mischief from Congress, and hence I am saying that this political vendetta and this smear campaign by the BJP and Congress will meet a firm response from the people of Telangana. I hope the commission and other political parties will realise that KCR and the BRS have done no wrong, there is nothing wrong with this project, and at last, the truth will prevail," Rao told ANI.
He further stated that the Kaleshwaram project was being maligned to gain political benefits.
"To gain political benefits, the project is being maligned. The project, which was completed in 4 years - the world's biggest lift irrigation project - was done under the leadership of KCR, and 45 lakh acres of land received water. I think the commission also understands this. Whatever questions will be asked, KCR will reply aptly," he further stated.
Meanwhile, Party Chief and former CM of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao, arrived to appear before the PC Ghosh Commission in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project.
Previously, BRS MLA and former Irrigation Minister Harish Rao and BJP MP Etela Rajender, who previously served as Finance Minister in the BRS government, appeared before the commission.
Earlier on June 8, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Konda Vishweshwar Reddy described the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana as the "world's biggest engineering blunder" and termed it a "huge scam" that has severely impacted the state's economy.
Speaking to ANI, Reddy said, "Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana is the world's biggest engineering blunder and it's a huge scam which ruined Telangana economically. It is one of the prime reasons that the richest state of Telangana is in such a horrible economic condition. We have a loan of Rs 8 lakh crores."
"The present Congress government does not have money to pay salaries and run the government," he added, blaming the ruling party for the deepening financial crisis. (ANI)
