The rate revision will lead to an increase of around 11 pc over the rates of 2017 in respect of most of private TV channels

New Delhi [India], Jan 25 (ANI): Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) on Friday announced its decision to hike advertisement rates offered by the Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC) to private TV channels.
An official statement from the I&B Ministry said that the revision would lead to an increase of around 11 per cent over the rates of 2017 in respect of most of the private TV channels, while it could be higher for some others, according to their reach and TV ratings.
It also confirmed that differential rate structures for news and non-news channels will be offered, depending upon their overall reach in the country.
"The decision will also make it easier for TV channels to be empanelled with BOC in order to take advantage of the higher rates," the statement read.
The revised rates have been announced on the basis of a Review Committee constituted by the Ministry which submitted its report on January 1, 2019, the statement said.
The latest decision comes after the Central government on January 9 hiked the advertisement rates for print media by 25 per cent. (ANI)
