Bodies of man, woman fished out from Cauvery river 200 m away from each other in Tamil Nadu's Karur

The officials further informed that the body of a 25-year-old woman was found 200 meters away from the Cauvery River in the same area.

Karur (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 8 (ANI): The body of a 32-year-old man who was reported missing after being swept away by the Cauvery River current five days ago was found near Pungodai village in Tamil Nadu's Karur district, officials said.
The officials further informed that the body of a 25-year-old woman was also found 200 meters away in the same area.
"Two bodies, a man and a woman, were recovered from the Cauvery River near Pungodai village in Karur district," officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Jeganathan a resident of Mettu Street, Namakkal district.
He was working as a supplier at a Tasmac (Wine shop) near the Namakkal bus stand area, they said.
As per the information reaching out, five days ago, the deceased and 15 of his relatives, went to take a bath in the river at Jedarpalayam in Tamil Nadu on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The fire department and the police received information that an unidentified body was fished out of the Cauvery River on Sunday.
"The Pugalur fire department reached the site and confirmed that it was the body of Jaganathan, who had been swept away by the water five days ago and went missing," officials said.

"Also, the body of an unidentified 25-year-old woman was found 200 meters away from the Cauvery River in the same area," they said.
Following the incident, Velayuthampalayam police in Tamil Nadu registered a case. "Further investigation is underway in the matter," they said. (ANI)
