Bodies of 4 drowned in Tunga river recovered

Chikmagalur (Karnataka) [India], Mar 24 (ANI): The state police on Sunday recovered bodies of four people from Tunga river in Vidyaranyapura village near Sringeri here on Sunday.

Chikmagalur (Karnataka) [India], Mar 24 (ANI): The state police on Sunday recovered bodies of four people from Tunga river in Vidyaranyapura village near Sringeri here on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Pradeep, Nagendra, and Ratnakar belonging to Balehakkalu village of Koppa district while Ramanna belonged to Sringeri.
"They all had come to Tunga river to swim. Pradeep drowned as he did not know how to swim while his friends who jumped into the river to rescue him drowned as well," police said.
"People on the bank alerted us as soon as they came to know about the unfortunate event," police told ANI.
Police and fire brigade had initiated search and rescue operation at 1 pm on Sunday to recover the bodies. All the bodies were recovered within three hours of the operation. Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
